thats why you see sales with 100k + ectos or shards. Not alot of people want to keep putting 100k into the trade screen to get the items since the other person might be a scammer.

This is how I usually do it, it involves ecto, but the ecto is not actually used as payment.
Plus the seller need enough ecto in their inventory to cover the excess ammount. Step One: Buyer trades the gold ammount over 100k. Seller trades the equivilant ammount of ecto. (This means that there is no net gain or loss on either side) Step Two: Seller deposits all gold into storage. Step Three: Buyer trades all the ecto he just got with 100k Seller trades the item being bought. (This is how you would normally get payment for an item over 100k) Final result: Buyer has the item. Seller has the full price in gold and original ecto. (seller has all of the gold, along with the ecto he started with) Might take a little while to explain it to the person though. If one party leaves after step one, there is no loss or gain (assuming steady markeet value of ecto), meaning that there is never a time when one party can steal the money or items of the other. (asuming that both parties are inteligent, and don't fall for 100g instead of 100p etc.) EDIT: added why this is fair and scam proof Last edited by Fenix; Nov 28, 2005 at 11:43 PM // 23:43.. |

All the other answers - to me - make it more complicated than it needs to be. Just use ecto and shards, there's usually a fairly well established price - what they're trading for - each day. That way the deal is done in one trade.

yeah i won't trust people with 100k or my money and i wouldn't expect them to trust me, use ecto's they are worth around 13k(14k at trader/12k to sell to trader) at present.
I always keep one ecto spare to check sell prices from time to time as it can change weekly. make sure the person you are trading with agrees the price of an ecto beforehand. Or use on of the mediators from the sell forum, i hear they do good work. |

that is true, if you really want the money that badly just sell the ectos after you get them.

I like Fenix's way better, Axe's brings two resources that might not hold their value before you get to the merchant. Bad idea.

Well, the value of ecto is generally stable, and if it goes down, you can definitly expect it to go back up.
My method might be a really good way to get the money and not get scammed, but in most cases it's way too complicated to be worth the effort. Just take the 100k+ecto and wait for the trader value to go up. |
